CHAIRMAN

Lawrie

Lawrie founded Bookdonors and is the Business Development Manager and Managing Director.

He has extensive business experience from previously running a department for a multi-national company and then his own company.

Latterly, Lawrie was a full-time carer which
inspired him in 2005 to start Bookdonors.

 


SECTION LEADER

Steven


Initially Steven was here on a work placement.

He began working for Bookdonors in October 2006 and was promoted to a Team Leader in 2008. 

Steven became a Section Leader in 2009 managing our Data Entry operations, orders and quality assurance. He also trains new recruits in a variety of different tasks.

 


TEAM LEADERS

Phil


Phil began working for Bookdonors in July 2007 and is now one of our Team Leaders.  He is generally involved in the running of the sorting & grading area. He is also responsible for the organisation of Books for All operations.

 

 


Ian


Ian started working at Bookdonors in July 2008

and is now another one of our Team Leaders who is responsible for the daily running and initial sorting operations.

 

 

 


Barry


Barry joined the team in October 2007. He is the team's expert on the technical aspects of computers.

Barry was promoted to a Team Leader in May 2009. He has excellent customer service skills and helps train new members of staff in how to perform customer service operations.






Mike
 

Mike started working at Bookdonors in June
2009.  He was
promoted to a Team Leader in 2010 and is in charge of the Quality Control stage within processing our customer's orders.

 
 

We have a total of 23 employees based at Selkirk: 80% had been long-term unemployed/never employed; 14 are people with disabilities / medical condition requiring support.

We also have 2 people working part-time at home to fit in with family responsibilities.

In 2010 we supported 12 people on time-limited employment training schemes and 14 volunteers in partnership with several organisations.
